1)LST120/LST220contains (1) trimmer, (1) blackhandle, (1) guard, (1) battery (LST120) orUnpack components and verify contents.

(2) batteries (LST220), and (1) charger. NOTE: LST120 contains onebattery.

2) Place batteries on charge.

Important: Charge both packs foratleast8 hours to ensure a full charge is delivered tothe battery.During charging the

green LED will appear. When charging is complete the green LED will go off.

3) Installthe handle.

Important: The blackauxiliary handle must be installed with the

Black &Decker logo facing up.

• Press in on the buttons on both sides of the upper housing (B1).

• Partially push the handle on sothatitwill holdthe buttons in when you re-

lease them with your hand (B2).

• Push the handle completely ontothe housing and position itslightly until it

“snaps” intoplace (B3).

Note: If the handle is installed upside down, the adjustmentbutton will not

engage. To remove the handle,insertanail or screwdriver intothe small hole

on the side of the handle, push in the spring loaded button on the opposite

side ofthe handle, and remove the handle from the trimmer body.

4) Installthe guard.

Turn the trimmer upside down sothatyou are looking down atthe spool cap.

• Turn the guardupside down and slide itontothe orange tab below the

motor housing asshown (C1). Make sure the tabs on the guard engage the

ribsonthe motorhousing as shown in C2.

•Continue toslide the guard on until youhear it“snap” intoplace.

• Usinga phillips screwdriver, insert the guard screw to complete the guard

assembly (C3).

5) Remove the tape from the line and cutting blade onthe guard.

6) Adjustthe mode and height.

Important: The trimmer shipsin the boxset in the edging mode.

• Toswitch the trimmer backinto trimming mode,loosen the blackcollar

located atthe topofthe aluminumpole (D1).

• Rotate the pole 180°.There is aposition stopat180° toindicate you are in

trimming mode (D2).

• You may also adjust the height of the trimmer to a comfortable operating

heightwhen the collar is loose (D3).

• Tighten the collarwhen the trimmer is atthe desired heightand mode.

7)slide the battery intothe trimmer area as shown.Once the batteries are charged,

8)(as shown here) in either direction andsimultaneously pull the trigger.Depress the lock off button
