Safety
General safety instructions for cordless powertools
Warning: Readall theinstructions. Failure to adhere to thefollowing instructions may
lead to electric shocks, fires and/or serious injury. Theterm “power tools” in thewarning
text below refers to your handheld mains operated or battery operated tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
1) Workarea
a) Keepthework area clean and well illuminated. Cluttered and poorly lit areas
inviteaccidents.
b) Donot use power tools in explosive environments, e.g. near flammable liquids,
gases or dust. Powertools generate sparks that can easily ignite dust orfumes.
c) Keepchildren and other bystanders asafe distance away from thearea where
you intend to use thepower tool. Distractions can cause you to lose your
concentration and control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Thepower tool’s plug must fit correctly into thewall socket. Nevermodify theplug
in any way. Neveruse anadaptor together with earthed power tools. Unmodified
plugs and suitable wall sockets minimize therisk of electric shocks.
b) Avoidphysical contact with earthed objects, such as pipes, radiators, ovens or
refrigerators. Thereis anincreased risk of receiving anelectrical shock if your
bodyis earthed.
c) Donot expose thepower tool to rain or other wet conditions. Ifwater gets inside it
increases therisk of electric shock.
d) Donot abuse themains lead. Neveruse thelead to carry thetool or pull theplug
from awall socket. Keepthelead away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving
parts. Damaged or tangled leads increase therisk of electric shock.
e) Whenusing power tools outdoors, use anextension lead that is suitable for
thepurpose. Theuse of anextension lead designed for outdoor use decreases
therisk of electric shocks.
f) Iffor some reason you must use apower tool in awet environment, always
connect it to themains via anearth-fault circuit breaker such as anRCD (residual
current device). UsinganRCD significantly reduces thechances of you receiving
anelectric shock.
