WARNING: WHEN USING AN
ELECTRICAL PRODUCT, BASIC PRECAUTIONS
SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED TO AVOID
ELECTRIC SHOCK, FIRE, AND/OR SERIOUS
INJURY, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:
• Fully assemble product prior to use.
• Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended
for use by children age 12 and under. Close
supervision is necessary when used by or near
children. To avoid injury or damage, keep children
away from product, and do not allow children to
place fingers or other objects into any openings.
• Use only as described in this user manual. Use
only Dirt Devil® recommended attachments
and parts.
• Do not use charger with damaged cord or plug.
If product or charger is not working as it should,
has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or
dropped into water, call customer service at
800-321-1134 prior to continuing use.
• Do not pull or carry charger by cord. Keep cord
away from heated surfaces.
• Do not unplug charger by pulling on cord. To
unplug charger, grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Do not handle charger, plug, or charger
terminals with wet hands.
• Do not put any object into openings. Do not use
with any opening blocked; keep free of dust,
lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts
of body away from openings and moving parts.
• Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible
liquids, such as gasoline, or fine wood sandings,
or use in areas where they may be present.
• Do not pick up anything burning or smoking,
such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
• Do not use without filters, separator and dirt
cup in place.
• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure that the
power button is o when picking up or carrying
the product. Carrying the appliance with your
finger on the button or energizing appliance
that have the button on invites accidents.
• Recharge only with the Dirt Devil® charger
720429001. A charger that is suitable for one
type of battery pack may create a risk of injury
and fire when used with another battery pack.
• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected
from the battery; avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid
contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.
Liquid ejected from battery may cause irritation
or burns.
• Do not use a battery pack or appliance that is
damaged or modified. Damaged or modified
batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior
resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
• Follow all charging instructions and do
not charge the battery pack or appliance
outside of the temperature range specified
in the instructions. Charging improperly or at
temperatures outside of the specified range
may damage the battery and increase the risk
of fire.
• Have servicing performed by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the product
is maintained.
• Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance
(or the battery pack) except as indicated in the
instructions for use and care.
• To reduce the risk of fire or explosion, do not
leave the product running while unattended.
Immediately stop the unit if it shows signs of
abnormal operation such as loss of suction,
liquid or debris in the exhaust, or any abnormal
motor noises.
• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid
personal injury or damage, and to prevent the
products from falling, always place product
at bottom of stairs or on floor. Do not place
product on stairs or furniture.
• Do not expose battery operated appliance to
fire or excessive temperatures. Exposure to fire
or temperature above 265ºF/130ºC may cause
explosion.
• Do not use charger outdoors
• Do not charge battery in a damp or wet location.
Do not use, store, or charge battery packs or
products in locations where the temperature is
less than 50°F or more than 100°F. Do not store
outside or in vehicles.
• During charging, the pack and ambient
temperature should be between 41° to 86°F (5°
and 30°C).
• The product does not have to be plugged into
an electrical outlet, therefore it is always in
operating condition. Be aware of possible
hazards when using the product or when
changing accessories.
• Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts, and any other
condition that may aect the product’s
operation. If damaged, call customer service
prior to use. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained products.
• Save these instructions. Refer to them
frequently and use them to instruct others who
may use this product. If you loan someone this
product, loan them these instructions also.
• Put product away after use to prevent tripping
accidents.
CAUTION - TO REDUCE THE RISK OF
DAMAGE:
• Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this
product, as they may cause damage.
• Store appropriately indoors in a dry place. Do
not expose machine to freezing temperatures.
WARNING: RISK OF FIRE,
PROPERTY DAMAGE, AND INJURY. NEVER
EXPOSE YOUR BATTERY PACK OR CHARGER
TO WATER, MOISTURE, OR FLUIDS, INCLUDING
BUT NOT LIMITED TO CORROSIVE OR
CONDUCTIVE FLUIDS, OR ALLOW FLUIDS TO
FLOW INSIDE THESE ITEMS.
Corrosive or conductive fluids, such as salt
water, chlorine, certain industrial chemicals, and
bleach or bleach containing products, etc., can
cause a short circuit in the battery pack.
• If your battery pack is exposed to a corrosive or
conductive fluid, do not attempt to use or charge
the battery pack and immediately perform the
following steps:
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment,
including eye protection and rubber gloves.
• Place your exposed battery pack in a large
bucket, such as a 5 gallon or similar bucket,
and fill the bucket with regular tap water. Do
not place more than two packs in the bucket.
• Locate the bucket outdoors in an area
inaccessible to children and pets and away
from all buildings, garages/ sheds, structures,
vehicles, and combustible/flammable materials.
• Leave the battery pack(s) in the bucket filled
with tap water and call Customer Service at
1-800-321-1134 for additional instructions
on the proper disposal of the exposed battery
pack(s).
BATTERY DISPOSAL
WARNING

EXPOSURE TO TOXIC MATERIAL
LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES
The battery must be collected, recycled or
disposed of in an environmentally sound
manner. The EPA certified RBRC Battery
Recycling Seal on the lithium-ion [Li-ion]
battery indicated Techtronic Industries, is
voluntarily participating in an industry program
to collect and recycle these batteries at the end
of their useful life, when taken out of service
in the United States or Canada. The RBRC
program provides a convenient alternative to
placing used Li-ion batteries into the trash or
the municipal waste stream, which may be
illegal in your area. Please visit www.rbrc.org/
call2recycle/ for information on Li-ion battery
recycling and disposal bans/
restrictions in your area.

WARNING: To reduce risk of injury
from moving parts, turn vacuum o before
servicing.
If any parts are damaged or missing, please call
1-800-321-1134 for assistance.
OPERATION
CAUTION: Use extra care when
cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or
damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling,
always place cleaner at bottom of stairs or on
floor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture,
as it may result in injury or damage.

CHARGING VACUUM
1.
Insert charging plug into the back of the vacuum.
N :OTE The light indicators turn on when fully
inserted.
LIGHT INDICATOR

CHARGING
Lights will turn on based on current battery life.
Lights will turn o once fully changed.
OPERATING THE VACUUM
1. ON/OFF Button
1.
To start the vacuum, press the power button once.
2.
To stop the vacuum, press the power button once.
LIQUID PICK UP
WARNING: When vacuuming liquid,
make sure the product does not get submerged
or doused in liquid, which could cause shock,
vacuum failure, or personal injury.
1.
After liquid pickup, keep the nozzle level or tilted
down to prevent leaking.
2.
Unit in upward position may result in leakage.
REMOVING/REATTACHING THE
DIRT CUP
The dirt cup should be emptied and cleaned
periodically for maximum performance.
1.
To remove dirt cup press down on release button.
Continue to rotate dirt cup down and away from
the housing to remove.
NOTE: Empty contents after each usage.
Do not leave liquid contents inside of the unit
after usage.
2.
To empty dirt cup use the grip located in front of
the foam filter to remove filter housing. Dispose
of contents inside dirt cup.
3.
To reattach, insert filter housing back into the
dirt cup, then align inserts from the bottom of
the dirt cup with the bottom and rotate upward to
connect back into the vacuum housing.
SQUEEGEE
WARNING: To reduce risk of injury
from moving parts, turn vacuum o before
servicing.
1.
Insert rubber squeegee to pick up liquid debris
only.
BEST PRACTICE
Start in front of spill and drag the nozzle
toward you.
TIP
CREVICE TOOL
1.
Remove Squeegee.
2.
Insert crevice tool into the nozzle in order to
clean hard to reach areas.
NOTE: Tool not included with every model.

MAINTENANCE
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Most plastics are susceptible to damage from
various types of commercial solvents and can be
damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove
dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc… This product contains
no serviceable parts. If an appliance is not work-
ing as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left
outdoors or dropped in water, contact customer
service at .1-800-321-1134
WARNING: To avoid serious
personal injury, always turn vacuum o when
cleaning or performing any maintenance.
CLEANING/REPLACING THE FILTER
CAUTION: Do not use without dust
bag, separator, filters, tank, and / or dirt cup
in place.
1.
Remove the dirt cup.
2.
Lift black filter assembly out of the dirt cup.
3.
Remove foam filter by pulling the puck out of the
filter housing.
4.
Shake or lightly brush filter. Replace or wash as
necessary.
5.
Wash filter and filter screen using warm water.
Allow 24 hours to completely dry. Ensure no
water remains before using.
6.
Reinsert foam filter back into filter housing. Make
sure the foam filter is under all 3 secure tabs
before reassembling the vacuum.

Cleaner won’t pick up or
low suction
1. Dirt Cup not installed correctly. 1. Review Filter Removal & Replacement.

4. Filter is dirty. 4. Clean or replace filter.
5. Clogged filter. 5. Remove filter and clean.
6. Nozzle⁄dirt passage clogged. 6. Turn o unit and then disconnect the nozzle to remove debris.

8. Inlet tube clogged. 8. Check inlet tube for obstruction. Use a pipe cleaner or pen to clear
the obstruction.
Dust escaping from
cleaner
1. Dirt Cup is full. 1. Turn o unit and remove debris.
2. Dirt Cup not installed correctly. 2. Review Filter Removal & Replacement.
3. Filter not installed correctly. 3. Review Filter Removal & Replacement.
Water leaking 1. Water leaking from bottom vent 1. Dirt Cup is over filled or has been tilted too far upright.
Note: Water coming out of bottom vent is as designed and will not
harm the vacuum. Leave unit to dry for 24 hours.
