GETTING STARTED

ETHOS is a condenser microphone with active

electronics. This means:z

n Its output level will be naturally higher than many of

the dynamic broadcast microphones that it may be

replacing.z

n It is not uncommon to need to reduce gain if you

were previously using a dynamic microphonek

n You will need to engage phantom power on your

interface or preamp. Pro Tip: It's always a good idea

to plug in a condenser microphone while phantom

power is off and the channel is muted. After

engaging phantom power, give the microphone a

short time to settle before unmuting. z

n In-line preamps and level boosters like the

CloudLifter are not necessary.

Our advanced technology provides signicantly more

exibility with respect to placement relative to other

products traditionally found in broadcast. Start with EQ

at, compression and other effects bypassed, and take

a couple of minutes to nd a position that best

compliments your workow, voice and space. With

your placement determined, EQ and effects can now

be added to taste.
