SAFETY WARNINGS
Before commencing any testing, short the prods together to check the batteries.
n Do not use the instrument in a humid environment.
n Before testing a live circuit the voltage tester should be checked by connecting to a known voltage source (e.g. a
suitable 230 V outlet or a proving unit) before and after use.
n Tests for voltage should be made with both poles. Extreme care must be conducted when testing
voltages above 35 V.
n When testing ensure hands are behind the barriers on main body and remote probe. Avoid touching the
tips.
n The instrument must be in good order, clean, dry and with no broken case or damaged lead or prods.
n Do not use the unit with battery cap removed and ensure when changing the batteries no prod is
connected to any circuits.
n The unit has a safety feature that indicates voltage is present on live circuit if the batteries become
exhausted while testing. The additional warning triangle and acoustical signal are only for warning of life
risk (>35 V) and not for measuring purposes.
n The audible indication should be considered for audibility in noisy environments.
n Do not use the instrument if one or more functions are not working correctly.
n Remove the batteries if the tester is not to be used for a long period of time.
General point: Voltage tests have priority on the TPT210. If no voltage is detected at the probe tip (<3.0 V),
the device is in continuous test mode.
Introduction
The Megger TPT210 2 pole voltage tester is capable of performing a number of test functions utilising LED
indicators. The device can be used to detect DC or AC voltages from 6 V to 1000 V and continuity up to
500 KΩ. Additional functions include polarity, phase sequence and a FI/RCD function test.
As the unit uses very little current to operate, the tester will not cause tripping when conducting a phase to
earth voltage test on a FI/RCD protected circuit.
The TPT210 is equipped with a high brightness LED torch feature and a high protection rating (IP65) mak-
ing it suitable for use in harsh conditions. In addition, the unit has a feature that indicates exhausted batteries
when making a voltage measurement.
Safety notes: The TPT210 is designed to offer a high degree of safety. It conforms to standards DIN VDE
0682-401 and IEC/EN 61243-3. To ensure that the unit is operated safely, please read the following instructions
before using the device.
Note: To comply with GS38 (minimum exposed tip) the metal caps on each prod must be unscrewed and
replaced with the supplied plastic tip shrouds.
