New 70V Attenuators MV 25,
MV 50 & MV 100
DECORA® Style 70V
Volume Controls/Attenuator
Basic Connecons:
1) All speaker connecons are in parallel whether the
speakers are “home run” individually back to the
amplier; or in a Daisy Chain conguraon Opon#1
from one speaker; to the next making sure Opon#2
they are connected in parallel.
Note: the 3 MCV Aenuators feature a convenient
through-output to easily connect the speakers in Daisy
chain conguraon using the thru-put connecon (by
passing the Transformer) of each Volume Control you
use in the chain.
2) The Common and 70Volt outputs of the Amplier
connect to the Common and Input of each Aenuator
whether all are coming directly from the Amplier in
“Home Run” or from the Aenuator to the previous
Aenuator in the “Daisy Chain”
3) The Common and Output of each Aenuator
connects to the Common and desired color coded
waage wire on the Primary of the 70 Volt Transformer.
Or the Common and Output of each aenuator
connects to the negave (black) and Posive (red) for a
speaker with built in transformer. Then the waage is
set with the selector switch (as featured in the images
to the le)
4) The 8 ohm secondary (output) wires on the
transformer connect to the speaker terminals
(Black-/Red+).
5) Then connect the Line or Auxiliary output from your
main mixer to the Auxiliary input on the Distribuon
amplier.

Features and Specicaons
DECORA style high-quality auto transformer provides advantages of excellent frequency response, low inseron loss
and reliable performance for volume control applicaons in 25 and 70 volt systems. Aenuaon is accomplished in ten
make before break steps plus posive o posion (no stop between maximum and o posion to prevent switch
damage). The Aenuator features removable input/output terminal blocks, Two in, two out and two oponal for
through output for daisy chain opon. An aracve alternave to Commercial series aenuators mounts into most
single gang E.O boxes. UL Listed White, Almond and Ivory Plasc Plates with Matching Skirted Knobs in DECORA® Style

DECORA® Style 70V
Volume Controls/ Aenuator
Power Rang:
The MVC are rated at 25W, 50W and 100W so the
speaker connected to it needs the transformer
seng to be equal to or less than the rated was
of each MVC. You can have mulple speakers
connected to one MVC but total waage must be
equal to or less than the rated Wattage of the
respecve MVC that you are using.
Transformer Taps:
For a 70V speaker, whether a in- require more than Rated was to produce ceiling or wall mounted speaker you shouldn’t
more than enough sound. Normally to get the volume right you would need to experiment with the separate waage
sengs (10w, 5w, 2.5w, 1.25w) at each locaon to get the volume you desire. It is more exible to add an aenuator
(volume control) for each speaker. If you add an aenuator you would turn it to full volume then select the transformer
tap (25 wa for MVC-25, 50 watts for the MVC50 and 100 was for the MVC100) which gives you the most volume you
could want.
Picking the right Distribuon Amplier:
To start with the Amplier must have a 70Volt output. It must have an output power rang equal to or greater than the
total waage of the system once you have calculated what each speaker should be set to and the total sum of those
sengs. If you had four speakers at 5 was each (20 total) and one speaker set to 10 was (20 + 10 = 30) your amplier
must be rated at least 30 was minimum. If you had ve speakers at 10 was each (50 total) and another 5 ve speakers
at 5 was each (25 + 50 = 75) you would need a amplier rated at a minimum 75 was.
Some companies recommend the total should be closer to 90% of the minimum rang of the amplier. It is also a good
idea to install an amplier with more than enough power in case you want to add more speakers later.
Key Point: The Power rang of the amplier is determined by the transformer sengs, not the aenuator Rang, The
rated power of the Aenuator is based upon the minimum seng of the transformer taps which have to be equal to or less
than the rated waage of the respecve MVC Aenuator
Each Kit includes color matched White, Almond and
Ivory outer plate, DECORA® insert and rotary knob
