How to makecoffee

1. Wash unitbefore firstuse.See “Care and cleaning.”

2. Place filter basket in filter basket well. Insert thumb

handleintheleftopening. Ensurefilterbasketisfully

seated.

3. PlaceOPTIONAL waterfilter and water filterbaseinto

water reservoir(see “Optional accessories”).

4. For eachcup ofcoffee beingmade,placeone level

tablespoonofcoffee into filter. Usea#4cone-style

paper filter. Foldfilteratthe crimpfor proper placement.

If filter not folded atcrimp,it maycollapse oran

overflow may occur.

5. Fillcarafewith thedesired amountof cold tap water.

6. Pour water from carafe into reservoir.

NOTE: Do not fillpastthe 12-cupmark.

7. Place carafe, with carafe lidattached, on keep-hotplate.

8. Close lid. Pressfirmly onlid toensure thatitis

completely closed.

9. Turnswitch toON ().A lightedswitch indicates thattheI

coffeemaker is on.Turn switchto OFF()and unplugO

when finished.

To avoid hotcoffee overflowingfrom the filter basket:

• Whenusing decaffeinatedcoffee,donotexceed the

coffeemanufacturer’srecommended serving amount.

•Pressfirmly on lidto ensure the lid iscompletely closed.

If filter basketoverflowoccurs,unplug coffeemaker and allow

coffee in filter basket tocool before removingfilter basket.

wWARNING

1. Avantlapremière utilisation, lavezlacafetière puis

2. Placerle panier-filtre dansle puitsdupanier-filtre.Insérer

3. Déposer le filtreàeau en OPTIONetlabase du filtre à

eau dans leréservoird’eau (voir « Accessoiresen option »).

4. Pour chaque tasse decaféàpréparer,mettre une cuiller

à soupe rasede café dans le filtre.Utiliser un filtre en

papier conique n° 4. Plierle filtre le long du pli pourle

placer correctement.Si le filtre n’estpasplié le long du

pli, ilpourras’affaisserouprovoquerun débordement.

5. Mettre la quantité désirée d’eaufroide du robinet dans

la verseuse.

6. Verser l’eau de laverseuse dans le réservoir.

REMARQUE : Ne pasremplirau-delà de lamarque de

12 tasses (3 L).

7. Placerlaverseuse munie de soncouvercle surlaplaque

chauffante.

8. Fermer le couvercle.Appuyer fermement sur le couvercle

pours’assurer qu’il est bienfermé.

9. Mettre l’interrupteur àMARCHE (I). Uninterrupteurallumé

indiquequelacafetièreestenmarche. Mettre

l’interrupteurà ARRÊT(O) etdébrancher lacafetière après

avoir terminé.

To setanduseAutomatic Brew:

1. Make sure clock is set for correcttime of day.

2. Fillcoffeemakerwithdesired amount of water and

coffee. Place carafe with lid on keep-hot plate.

3. Press and hold PROG formorethan1second. When

the displaychangesto 19:99, use theandbuttonsH M

to change tothe desiredtime.

4. Oncedesired brewingtimehasbeen reached, release

PROG and currenttime isdisplayed.

5. Momentarily pressPROG to setcoffeemakerto come on

automatically atthedesiredtime.

6. An illuminatedgreen light to theleft of thebuttonPROG

andthe word “AUTO” inthe top-left cornerofthe display

indicate thatthe brew cycle will beginatthe settime.

7. Momentarilypress the PROG button again tocancel

automatic brew.

•Whenusing a paperfilter,alwaysusea good-quality,

#4conefiltertoobtainthe best possible results.

• Take carenot to spillloose coffee grounds between filter

and filter basket.

•Make sure filterbasketissecurely inplace.

• The carafe lidmust be properly attached tocarafe.

• The carafe must be placedproperlyandlevelon

keep-hotplate before startingbrewcycle.

•When usingthe Pause ’NServefeature, replacecarafe

within 20seconds to preventoverflowof coffee grounds

and water from filter basket.

Usage tips

How touse the waterfilter

(optional accessory on select models)

1. Beforefirstuse,soak water filterin cold tap waterfor

15 minutes.Then rinse under cold runningtapwater for

15 seconds.

2. Insertfilterinbase. Snaplidontobase. Setyour

replacementmonthbyaligning arrow withthe month

youexpect will represent60 brew cycles.

3. Usingthewater filter lid(or handle),placefilterand filter

basein water reservoir. The water filter base should fit

snugglyin aspeciallydesignedwellat thebottomof the

water reservoir.

4. Replace after 60brewingcycles. Referto the month

indicatorto know whento replaceyour filter.

5. To replace,pullup on lid offilter holder while holdingfilter

base; turn filterbase to allow filter to drop out.

To clean carafe and filterbasket:

Washcarafeby hand inhot,soapywater or in top rack of

dishwasher.Toremove carafe lid, pushhinge part oflidto

onesideand then gently but firmly twistlid.The pin will

release from hinge.Toreplace lid, putone side oflidhinge

on oneofpins andthen snaponto otherpin.

To remove filter basket, openlidandliftstraightup. Filter

basket maybe washed by hand or intop rack of dishwasher.

• Do not use acrackedcarafe or acarafe having a loose or

weakened handle.

Care and cleaning

All coffeemakers should be cleaned atleastonce amonth

(oncea weekforareas with hard water).

To clean the inside ofthecoffeemaker:

1. Remove water filter (optional)andwater filterbase (see

“How touse the waterfilter”).

2. Place emptycarafeon keep-hot plate.Close empty filter

basket.

3. Pour one pint ofplain white vinegarinto the water

reservoir.

4. Plugunitintoelectrical outlet andturnON().I

5. After30seconds, turnOFF().O

6. Wait30minutes toallowthe vinegarto clean.Then turn

ONagain.Whenthebrewcycle isfinished,turn OFF(O).

7. Empty carafe and rinse. Pourone carafe ofcoldtap

waterinto the water reservoir. Place carafe on

keep-hot plate.

8. Turn ON ().When the brew cycle is finished,empty theI

carafe. Repeatthis processwithone more carafe of cold

tap water.

9. Turn OFF()when complete.O

10. Wash carafe and filter basket before making a

beverage.
