General Safety Instructions

Adhere to the applicable regulations and take the necessary

precautions for all work you are going to do and consider the

safety instructions in this document.

•Hazardous voltages are present with this product during

normal operation. The product should never be operated

with the covers removed unless equivalent protection of

the operator from accidental contact with hazardous inter-

nal voltages is provided.

•Do not modify this product or substitute any parts without

authorization of qualified INFICON service trained person-

nel.

•To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose

this product to rain or moisture.

Installation

Putting a product which is visibly damaged into

operation can be extremely hazardous. If the

product is visibly damaged do not put it into ope-

ration and make sure it is not inadvertently put

into operation.

The unit is intended for indoor use only.

Ensure the enclosure of the unit is connected directly to a

good quality earth ground.

Ensure that the vacuum port on which the vacuum gauge

sensorsaremounted is electrically grounded.

In order to protect personnel from electric shock and bodily

harm, shield all conductors which are subject to potential

high voltage electrical discharges in or around the vacuum

system.

Rack and Control Panel Installation

The admissible maximum ambient temperatures

must not be exceeded (→ respective Operating

Manual).

When mounting multiple units in your rack mount enclosure

or mounting the unitbelow other electronic equipment in your

rack, allow at least 1U of space (1.75 in., 45 mm) between

the units to ensure adequate ventilation.

The single cut-out and dual cut-out rack mountable panels

shown above are available from INFICON. Screws for mount-

ing to rack enclosure are included.

Operating Manual.Use four # 10-32 Hex Nut (provided with

instrument) to tighten the unit to the panel.

Use as Desk-Top Unit

Select a location where the admissible maximum

ambient temperature (→ respective Operating

Manual) is not exceeded (e.g. due to sun irradia-

tion).

Operation

Applying Power

Before you turn on power to the VGC083x for the first time,

ensure the cables from the VGC083x to the gauges are con-

nected and secured. Turn on power by pressing the Power

key.
