• USB enabled computer system with an available USB 3.0 port

• Windows® 11, 108 / 8.1 (32/64bit), 7 (32/64), Vista (32/64), XP SP3

(32), Mac OS® 10.6 and up (Tested up to 10.9)

• HDMI® or VGA enabled display device if desired

Note: Only a single video output port can be used at one time,

HDMI® or VGA. If two displays are connected, the HDMI port will

take priority.

Driver Installation

Windows

1. Navigate to www.StarTech.com/USB3SMDOCKHV.

2. Click the Support tab.

3. Click the “[displaylink] windows usb display adapter.zip” le, and

download the drivers.

4. Right-click the zip folder that you downloaded, select Extract All,

and follow the on screen instructions.

5. Right-click Setup.exe, and click Run as Administrator.

Note: YIf the Run as Administrator option is not available, you

might be attempting to run the installer from within the zipped

le. Extract the les using the instructions in Step 4.

6. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the device drivers and

restart the computer when prompted.

7. Once Windows has restarted, connect the USB video adapter to

your computer.

8. Your computer will automatically complete the driver installation

and your device should be ready to use.

Note: The installation may take several seconds to complete.

During the installation your display might icker; this is normal.

Once the installation has completed you will see your Windows

desktop extended to the additional monitor.

Installation

Depending on your Operating System version and whether or not

you have an active network connection, the Mini Docking Station

may auto-install once connected to an available USB 3.0 port on the

host system.

If the Mini Docking Station does not auto-install, follow the steps

below to complete the Driver Installation process.

Driver Installation

MacOS

1. Navigate to www.StarTech.com/USB3SMDOCKHV.

2. Click the Support tab.

3. Click the “[displaylink] mac usb display adapter.zip” le, and

download the drivers.

4. Run the DMG File associated with the installed macOS Version,

located in the [DisplayLink] Mac USB Display Adapter folder

5. Navigate to Finder > Applications and open the DisplayLink

Manager app.

6. Select the DisplayLink Manager app icon from the Menu Bar.

7. Select the check-box for “Launch app automatically after logging-

in” from the Automatic startup section.

8. Connect the StarTech.com Adapter to the Mac and Video Display

Device.

9. Navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy, and to the

Privacy tab.

10. Select Screen Recording > DisplayLink Manager.

Note: This step permits the Mac to use the DisplayLink Manager

app to send video from the StarTech.com Adapter to the Video

Display Device.

11. Since the new permission will activate the next time the

DisplayLink Manager app is started, select the prompt to Quit &

Reopen or Quit Now.

12. Navigate to Finder > Applications and open the DisplayLink

Manager app.
