TIA/EIA-232-Fandprovidestheelectricalinterfacebetweenanasynchronouscommunicationcontrollerandthe

serial-portconnector.Thechargepumpandfoursmallexternalcapacitorsallowoperationfromasingle3-Vto

5.5-Vsupply.Thisdeviceoperatesatdata-signalingratesof1Mbit/sinnormaloperatingmodeandamaximum

of30-V/µsdriveroutputslewrate.Thisdevicealsofeaturesalogic-leveloutput(READY)thatassertswhenthe

chargepumpisregulatingandthedeviceisreadytobegintransmitting.

TheMAX3227achievesa1-µAsupplycurrentusingtheauto-powerdownplusfeature.Thisdeviceautomatically

entersalow-powerpowerdownmodewhentheRS-232cableisdisconnectedorthedriversoftheconnected

peripheralsareinactiveformorethan30s.Theyturnonagainwhentheysenseavalidtransitionatanydriveror

receiverinput.Auto-powerdownsavespowerwithoutchangestotheexistingBIOSoroperatingsystem.
