ThermoLux heating mats aremadeof

water-proof and rot-proof materials,are

absolutelywatertight,andcan be used

without any danger in freshwater. They

oer maximum safety due tothe built-in,

full-surface protective conductor. Always

remove the plug from the powersocket

before cleaning the mat or working on

the aquarium,to preventdanger of

electric shocks.

The matsare connected bymeans ofthe

plug directto the 230Vpower supply, and

atan ambienttemperatureof 20°C, and

withouta cover, reacha maximum surface

temperature of approx. 42 °C.

The heating of the mat dependshowever

on the undersurface, theambient

temperature and theamount of substrate to

beheated(sand, mulch, wateretc.)and

can take from several hours to days.

Whenusedwithout temperature limitation,

take care tooftheavoid overheating

ThermoLux heating mat, since the mat can

reach atemperature ofover 100 °Cif

placed between dry substrates!

Use as a terrariumunderlay

Note:

The mat mustnot be placed inthe

terrarium,sinceanimals may crawl under

it,orit maybe damagedby animalswith

sharp claws.

The mat must not beplacedbetween two

layers of insulating material (e.g.

styropor, woodshavings, other substrate

material). Thiscouldlead toabuild-up of

heat, and damage to the terrarium or

heating mat (see General Instructions)!

The mat should be placed under the

terrariumso as not to coverthe whole of

the terrarium area,so thatthe reptiles are

also left with cooler areas.In orderto avoid

heat loss, the ThermoLuxheating mat

should be placed ona sheet of styropor.

To avoiddamaging the terrariumbase by

thermal andmechanical stresses, donot

place the terrariumdirectlyon the mat.

Spacers (e.g. wooden slats)should be laid

alongthe wholelengthofthe terrarium

base between thematand theterrarium

base, leaving an distance ofabout 12 mm

between the mat andthe terrarium. This

will ensure an even distribution ofheat.

Check thetemperature change atthe

surfaceof the oorsubstrate usinga

thermometer,and adjustthe separating

distance to achieve the required

temperature.Ensure that the humidityis

sucient toprevent theanimalssuffering

from desiccation.

Use as an underlayfor plants

Placethe maton awindowsillordirectin a

hydro-culturevesselorseeding tray.Water

regularly in order to avoid a build-up of heat

and the drying-outofthe substrate (earth,

hydro-culture). Thetemperature ofthe soil

dependson the volume ofthe vessel/tray

and the surrounding temperature.

The ThermoLux Temperature Regulator

can be used for controllingthe temperature.

The temperature willthen automaticallybe

maintained within the requiredrange. The

temperature regulation isonly suciently

accurate within thedamp substrate.
