INTRODUCTION
The VIP-160A- and VIP-160A- - InformaCast IC IC V4
Compliant IP Talkback Ceiling Speakers enable 8”
handsfree talkback access to a single location over
an IP-based network. The speaker registers with
and is controlled by the InformaCast server .
A call switch input is provided for call initiation.
Power is provided to the VIP- A- via a Power 160 IC
over Ethernet (PoE) switch meeting the 802.3af
specication. The -V4 model is identical in t, form
and function to the non -V4 model.

INSTALLATION
Mounting
Cut an 8.50” diameter in ceiling tile. After
connections have been made to the speaker, attach
speaker to ceiling tile using the mounting hardware
provided. (A metal backbox with rails is available
separately as model V- 16M). 99
Network Connection
The VIP-160A- has one RJ-45 network connector IC
on the rear panel. Use a standard patch cable to
connect the VIP-160A- to an Ethernet switch IC
providing Power over Ethernet (PoE) meeting the
802.3af specication. If the switch does not provide
power, a mid-span power injector may be used.
(See Figure 1)
Call Switch Connection
The VIP- - provides a call switch input via 160A IC
screw terminal connections, labeled Switch 1 and
Ground.
LED (+) and (-) Connection
LED (+) and (- are current limited outputs designed )
to illuminate an optional LED. The LED is intended
to provide visual indication of call progress. The
LED illumination will ash when the call switch is
pressed and will continue to ash until the call is
answered. The LED illumination will be solid while
a connection to the IP Talkback Speaker is
established.
-10 dB Line Level Out Connection
T -10dBm Line Level Out may be connected to he
up to 40 Valcom Self-Amplied Speakers to provide
additional sound reinforcement in an area.
Reset
The Reset button may be used to return the
speaker to factory default settings. Press and hold
the reset button for more than 10 seconds, less but
than , to reset the IP address and other 20
conguration to factory default.
Press and hold the reset button for more than 20
seconds to reset all conguration including the ,
password.
Setup
The VIP-160A- will automatically acquire an IP IC
address (using DHCP) and connect to the
InformaCast server when connected to the
network and powered up. Information specic
to your application will need to be programmed
into the InformaCast server. Refer to the
InformaCast documentation for further
information.

obsolete outlet.

10.Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles and the point where they exit from the apparatus.

When trouble is reported, verify power is being
supplied to the unit and there are no broken
connections. If a spare unit is available, substitute
a spare unit for the suspected defective unit.

When requesting assistance, you should include all
available information. It is strongly suggested that

Valcom equipment is not eld repairable. Valcom,
Inc. maintains service facilities in Roanoke, VA.
Should repairs be necessary, attach a tag to the
unit clearly stating your company name, address,
phone number, contact person and the nature of
